We have an exciting opportunity to join our Health & Safety team as a Health & Safety Advisor.
We're looking for a proactive and detail-driven Health & Safety Advisor to join our team, playing a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-quality safety service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a dynamic college environment, where you'll contribute to maintaining compliance, promoting best practice, and driving continuous improvement—while developing your own expertise and making a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of staff and students alike.
Responsibilities include - Support the Head of Health and Safety in ensuring the College meets its statutory health and safety obligations through effective operational implementation.
- Provide practical, competent health and safety advice and guidance to managers, staff and departments. Including managing the Safety email inbox, answering queries and referring complex issues as appropriate.
- Support the development, review and monitoring of risk assessments, safe systems of work and control measures, particularly in higher-risk curriculum areas.
- Support DSE Assessments and recommend reasonable adjustments, order equipment, manage stock control and records.
- Support the management of First Aiders, order materials, manage stock control and records.
- Support emergency evacuation/invacuation/lockdown arrangements, including practice drills, reports and recommendations, and records of PEEPs (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans).
- Administration of the Trips and Visits online portal, providing support for staff. Review documentation, e.g. Risk Assessments and provide advice accordance with College policies.
- Lead and support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring accurate reporting, trend analysis and recommending corrective and preventative actions.
- Carry out health and safety inspections, audits and compliance checks, reporting findings and recommendations to the Head of Health and Safety.
- Assist with preparing reports, data, trend analysis and documentation for the Health and Safety Committee and internal monitoring.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture, challenge unsafe behaviours and support continuous improvement across the College.
- To undertake further health and safety training as required and undertake regular continued professional development (CPD).

Education & Training - GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths, or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability, and then, if appointed, achieve within an agreed timescale

- Experience of completing, reviewing and supporting risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Experience of accident, incident and near-miss investigation, including reporting, corrective and preventative actions
- Experience of conducting health and safety inspections or audits.
