Here at Bournemouth & Poole College, we are looking for a Security and Premises Officer on a full time, permanent basis.
Responsibilities as our Security & Premises Officer will include:
- Deliver a ‘best in class’ Security service to the Bournemouth & Poole College, its Staff and Students in line with the Bournemouth and Poole college policies
- Proactively Patrol the perimeter and access routes checking ID cards to ensure authorised access only
- Respond to alarms and emergencies
- Ensure incident reports, daily records / logs are completed accurately
- Surveillance and monitoring of CCTV in line with GDPR regulations and college policy
- Encourage good behaviour from students and diffuse potentially difficult situations
- Carry out routine patrols of college grounds, carparks, and buildings as per daily schedule
- Support the onsite Security & Premises Team as required – i.e., assist with room set-ups for events / exams
- Maintain all records and systems in accordance with GDPR, the Data Protection Act, and college policies, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and audit readiness
- Adhere to all College policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding, health and safety, financial regulations, and equality of opportunity. Represent the College positively, engage in ongoing professional development, and undertake other duties as required
- Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time
As our Security Officer, you’ll ideally have:
- Current SIA license
- Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
- 2 + years’ work experience in a Security role
- Conflict resolution
- General Health and Safety including manual handling
- CCTV and GDPR regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Accurate completion of incident reports, daily logs, and documentation
- A proactive approach and an eye for detail
- An ability to remain patient and calm under pressure
- Basic computer skills for email checks, logging incidents, and using security software
- Ability to act as a nominated first aider (with training)
