About
I am a dedicated and compassionate professional with a strong background in health and social care, higher education, and research. I hold a PhD in Sociology and have extensive experience supporting individuals in both academic and care settings. My career has enabled me to develop excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Currently, I work as a Senior Carer, where I support residents with their daily living needs, administer medication, coordinate care activities, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality person-centred care. This role has strengthened my ability to lead teams, manage challenging situations, and maintain high standards of care and safeguarding.
Prior to this, I worked as a Lecturer in Sociology, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising research projects, developing course materials, and contributing to curriculum development. This experience enhanced my teaching, mentoring, presentation, and project management skills.
My key skills include effective communication, teamwork, leadership, safeguarding, assessment and evaluation, data analysis, report writing, and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people. I am also proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Some of my notable achievements include obtaining a PhD in Sociology, completing professional qualifications in Health and Social Care and Assessing Vocational Achievement, publishing research in peer-reviewed international journals, mentoring students and junior colleagues, and successfully balancing careers in both healthcare and academia.
