About
As an Administrative Teacher on Special Assignment, equivalent to an assistant principal, I partner with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to deliver strategic leadership across the school. When the Headteacher is out of the building, I assume full leadership responsibility, ensuring continuity and effective operational management.
In leading Special Educational Needs and Inclusion, I partner with the Special Education Team to develop, review, and refine Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), crafting SMART goals and managing amendments that improve compliance and advance inclusive practice. I co-lead Special Education pre-evaluation, evaluation, and annual IEP meetings, ensuring procedural integrity, statutory compliance, and authentic parent participation in decision-making.
I drive curriculum implementation, intervention design, and academic progress monitoring in alignment with the School Improvement Plan, supporting teachers to adopt evidence-based strategies that elevate student achievement. This leadership directly contributes to raised standards and strong pupil progress across the school.
Leading the Student Behaviour Team, I have delivered whole-staff training in restorative and relational practices, creating consistent behaviour management systems, enhancing student-staff relationships, and decreasing repeat disciplinary incidents. This approach has fostered a nurturing, secure environment where all pupils thrive.
I manage teacher performance reviews using structured coaching cycles with observation protocols, targeted feedback, and collaborative goal-setting to strengthen instructional quality, enhance pedagogical expertise, and refine classroom management. This supportive framework empowers staff to excel and pursue continuous professional development.
