About
Due to a change of circumstances at home I am looking for a new challenge. Over my working life and during the time I spent at home when my children were younger I have developed a large pool of resources which contribute to my ability to meet the person specification for this role.
In the years prior to the birth of my two sons I worked diligently within various companies ranging from logistics to call centres and over the course of eight years I had worked my way from Office Administrator/Receptionist up to Human Resources Manager. Within this role I ran a department covering approximately 50 members of staff. I was responsible for devising and introducing a comprehensive staff handbook inclusive of policies and procedures included. I was responsible for all the recruitment of the Call Centre staff, dealing with any payroll issues and collaborated with the Call Centre Manager and Director, coordinating any disciplinary action that needed to acted upon.
During my time in education I was able to continue to utilise my skills and knowledge that I have gained throughout my time working within the private sector. I feel I have excellent communication skills, which I used on a daily basis, to talk to the Senior Leaders Team, peers, colleagues, pupils and parents. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant Level 4, I was called upon to whole class cover teach, sometimes with only a moments notice. This enabled me to utilise my excellent organisational and time management skills and professionalism, as I will be expected to lead and guide other Teaching Assistants whilst ensuring that the teaching is of the highest standard as to continue the development/learning for the pupils. I am incredibly proud to have achieved my HLTA qualification, Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning Support (Commendation) and BA Hons Degree in Education Studies (2:1). To achieve this, I successfully managed my time well in order to study, continue working and raise my young children simultaneously; demonstrating my commitment to aspirations and personal development.
Through my time in HR, study and education I have always been keen to keep myself technologically updated too and consider myself to be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Working within two different schools and the private sector, has also given me the opportunity to learn different teaching packages used in the planning and delivery of lessons and a variety of platforms for data input. This has widened my technical knowledge and highlighted to me that I am adaptable and able to flourish when faced with new challenges.
Regardless of the role I have been in throughout my working life I have always been able to work independently on tasks and projects, however, I am equally happy to work as part of a team and in the past I have even found myself on more than one occasion, taking the lead whilst completing tasks. I feel that I am a positive person who is able to see the practical, pragmatic approach to any situation. One of the skills I find myself utilising most often is my ability to adapt quickly to any given situation, thinking creatively in order to solve problems efficiently.
Away from work I have always been involved in local theatre companies, often adapting my skills to the variety of roles within these companies from acting, choreography, directing, set and lighting design, front of house, production promotion and bar work. These opportunities have enabled me to showcase my skills I have learnt professionally to help promote local live theatre. I have been able to work with many different types of people, all who have one goal, making the production a successful, enjoyable experience for the paying customer.
I feel at this time in my career I am entering a new chapter and feel that this role could be the challenge I need and allow me to develop myself further.
I look forward to discussing my application with you further.
Yours faithfully,
Rachael O’Hara
