About
Before relocating to the UK in 2018, I worked for over 11 years as an English as an ESOL Instructor in Turkey, teaching students from primary to university level. My experience included delivering lessons in grammar, writing, reading, speaking, and listening at academic standards, as well as designing and adapting learning materials and assessing student progress through both formative and summative methods.
At Istanbul Technical University and Arel University, I taught undergraduate students, focusing on developing their academic and technical language proficiency, as well as their critical thinking skills. At Istanbul Technical University, I also contributed to the design of low-stakes proficiency exams for A1 and A2 levels.
Earlier in my career, I taught English at Kultur Primary School, where I planned and delivered engaging lessons for children aged 6–10, integrating songs, stories, and games to foster curiosity and a love of learning.
After graduating from university, I was awarded a Comenius Language Assistantship by the European Union and worked at Sutton Veny Primary School in Wiltshire for eight months as an assistant language teacher. There, I taught Turkish language and culture while supporting class teachers across various subjects.
My current job as a Teaching Assistant, where I apply these skills to support students with a wide range of learning difficulties has provided me the opportunity to embrace safeguarding, inclusivity, diversity and school policies of the Uk educatıon system.
Through these roles, I developed strong classroom management, lesson planning, and assessment skills, along with a deep understanding of how to motivate and engage learners of all ages and abilities.
