About
With over 30 years of experience in engineering, CNC programming, and technical leadership, combined with a strong academic foundation, I am confident that my skills and expertise align closely with your requirements.
I am currently working as an Apprentice Assessor for Advanced Manufacturing Technicians, where I support and guide learners in developing industry-relevant skills. Prior to this, I held the position of Lead Thermodynamics Technician at the University of Portsmouth, where I demonstrated both technical excellence and operational leadership in managing laboratory environments and supporting academic delivery.
Previously, as an NVQ Assessor with Semester Learning & Development Ltd, I assessed and mentored engineering apprentices across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with industry standards while fostering professional development and practical competence.
My academic experience also includes roles as an Academic Staff Member at the New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology, where I developed and delivered advanced online mechanical engineering courses, and as a Teaching Technologist at the University of Auckland. In these positions, I managed fluid mechanics and thermodynamics laboratories, oversaw significant equipment budgets, and supported digital learning platforms such as Moodle and Canvas.
In addition to my academic career, I bring substantial industry experience from roles at Heat Treatment Ltd and Mastip Ltd, where I developed strong capabilities in CNC machining, welding and fabrication, and team leadership within manufacturing environments.
I hold an HNC in Manufacturing Engineering from Solihull College & University Birmingham, alongside certifications in Welding and Fabrication, Electrical Appliance Service, and Offender Management.
Outside of my professional work, I am committed to continuous learning and enjoy pursuing interests in photography, 3D printing, and electronics, which further complement my technical background.
I would welcome the opportunity to bring my experience, knowledge, and passion for engineering and education to your organisation.
