About
With experience in senior HR roles, including positions within leadership and senior management teams, I believe I bring both the skills and practical experience required to add real value in this role. Throughout my career, I have worked across both private sector companies and social enterprises, leading HR functions that support organisational growth, operational effectiveness and positive workplace culture. I have worked closely with senior leaders and Boards, contributing to strategic decision-making, organisational development and people strategies that align with wider business objectives.
A key focus throughout my career has been creating environments where people feel supported, valued and able to perform at their best. I have led a number of organisational change initiatives, including the development of Values and Behaviour Frameworks, people strategies and learning and development approaches designed to strengthen culture, capability and consistency across organisations. In one role, I designed and implemented a training and development matrix covering organisational, role-specific and individual learning needs, supporting succession planning, health and safety, compliance and long-term employee development. I am passionate about building learning cultures that not only support business objectives but also help individuals grow and progress.
I have extensive experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, wellbeing, safeguarding and employee development. This has included overseeing safer recruitment processes, supporting inclusive hiring practices and acting as a trusted point of contact for employees, managers and Board members on complex people matters. A consistent motivator for me has been creating supportive and inclusive workplaces where employees feel empowered and heard.
At Starts with you Ltd., I designed and implemented a comprehensive wellbeing strategy focused on financial, psychological, physical and social wellbeing. This formed part of a wider engagement and culture approach that significantly improved employee experience and supported retention and engagement across the organisation. The work also contributed to the company receiving an Honourable Mention/Runner-Up recognition for Employee Engagement within the 2024 Good Employment Charter Awards.
Alongside operational HR leadership, I have a strong interest in improving systems and processes to increase efficiency and compliance. I have led and supported the implementation of HRIS and company systems, including the digitisation of paper-based employee records to strengthen data accuracy, compliance and operational effectiveness. This aligned closely with my responsibilities as Data Protection Officer, ensuring strong governance and confidentiality standards were maintained.
I also have experience delivering internal training and coaching to managers on people management, employee relations and performance management, helping to strengthen leadership capability and management confidence. In addition, I have used HR data and insight to support workforce planning, talent acquisition and organisational decision-making, ensuring HR contributes strategically as well as operationally.
My work in engagement, wellbeing and culture has also led to external recognition. Alongside the Good Employment Charter recognition, I have spoken at events including 10GM, the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter and the British Safety Council annual event, sharing approaches to employee engagement, wellbeing and people practices. In 2024, I was also shortlisted for awards including Agent of Change and Best Employer at the She Inspires and EVA Awards, reflecting my commitment to positive change, strong workplace culture and best practice in employment.
