This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join the College to provide training for personal social development topics to improve employability skills and the basic digital skills associated with everyday life and the construction industry, to learners studying construction programmes. A qualification and/or experience in an appropriate building services discipline would be advantageous, but not essential.

The ideal candidate will be required to co-ordinate assessment activities in groups and one-to-one training. To plan and provide training and assessments to students to high standards. There is a requirement for an individual who can work pro-actively and build positive relationships with learners, to enable them to improve their employability skills and to excel in the industry that they aspire to work in and in everyday life. The individual will have the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and independently and have good communication and problem-solving skills.

The post-holder will not need to be a digital expert but will need to possess an interest in digital technology and be able to visualise and be motivated to help students improve their fluency in using digital technology, ideally in the context of the construction industry and everyday life. In addition, the post-holder will need to be confident to train in the fundamental principles of personal development topics and provide training that enables learners to deepen their knowledge and understand of these critical subjects to be successful in work and life in modern Britain.

The College requires a highly self-motivated, energetic and driven individual who can work effectively and independently. The post-holder must have good presentation and communication skills and be able to incisively demonstrate the achievement of targets and goals.

2. The Post

2.1 Main Duties and Responsibilities

a) Under the direction of the Head of Centre, co-ordinate and provide a high standard of training for digital skills and personal social development topics to groups and individual students.

b) To assess students’ competence, knowledge and understanding of basic construction concepts, digital skills and personal development topics, in line with college standardised expectations.

c) To develop and maximise personal social development and digital resources for learners’ use and ensure that they are relevant and enhance their understanding of the vocational subjects that they study.

d) To provide students with accurate feedback to enable them to make good progress and excel in their vocation, personal social development and digital skills.

e) To promote and monitor the attendance, retention and achievement of students and uphold and maintain appropriate standards of their behaviour.

f) To keep up to date with training opportunities and initiatives and the development of standards relating to the training of personal social development and digital skills.

g) To contribute to evaluative quality assurance reviews and the self-assessment process within the relevant College department.

h) To complete documentation, appropriate records of students’ performance and all relevant administration associated with the training of personal social development and digital skills.

i) To take responsibility for continuous professional development as appropriate and directed.

j) To attend and contribute to relevant meetings within the relevant College department.

k) To participate in college open events and activities.

l) To chasing and monitoring learners’ attendance.
