We are seeking a proactive and organised Technician in Media and Performing Arts to join our team at Fareham College on a permanent, full-time basis (37 hours per week).

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning within our Media and Performing Arts departments. You will play a key role in preparing and maintaining studio environments, helping to ensure that students develop practical, industry-relevant skills in a safe, well-equipped setting.

Working closely with teaching staff and under the direction of the Curriculum Manager, you will support the day-to-day operation of various creative environments, contributing to a positive learning experience and successful student outcomes.

Duties:

• Supporting and management of equipment, cameras and media requirements etc.; providing technical support across lighting, sound, stage, health and safety and operating Audio-Visual systems in the theatre and TV studio

• You will also act as crew on productions and will be required to operate lighting, sound and FX, plus carry out stage management as appropriate to your skills.

• Technical support for staff and students in learning and professional environments;

• Acting as Crew in various forms (SM, DSM, ASM, Lighting, Sound and Fx and attending production meetings;

• Organisation of and supervision of learners in the theatre, dance & media studio environments;

• Management, organisation, ordering and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and specialist equipment and materials as well as tracking department spending;

• Demonstrate specialist equipment (gimbal stabiliser, drones, autocue), studio production techniques, video camera tutorials, filmmaking, photography, media production techniques, and post-production practices; Competency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite, namely Premiere Pro, Photoshop and ability to diagnose technical errors

• Ensure students and staff adhere to safe working practices in the theatre and performance spaces;

• Working unsociable hours at times;

• There will be an occasional need to support at external venues.

• To provide general support to college events including participation in events such as Open Evenings and Showcase events.

• To adhere to College Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies and to comply with relevant legislation.

• To undertake any other such duties as may be reasonably required of you commensurate with your grade, at your initial place or work or at any of the other College sites as determined by the Curriculum Director or Principal.
