The Position: 14-16 Functional Skills and Enrichment Teacher

Location: Nuneaton

Hours: 37 hours per week (Full Time)

Unqualified and Qualified pay scales Up to point 38.

Alternative Provision | 14–16 KS4 Learners

We are looking for a passionate, trauma‑informed Functional Skills and Enrichment Teacher who believes that meaningful change starts with trust, consistency and understanding.

Our learners are young people aged 14–16 who may have SEND, social, emotional or mental health needs, challenging behaviour, or past experiences of exclusion from mainstream education. Many have experienced disrupted education, adversity or trauma — and all deserve adults who see their potential before their behaviour.

Learning is flexible, responsive and rooted in real life.

You will be a consistent, trusted adult — someone who shows up, listens, and supports young people to re‑engage with learning and move forward with confidence.

About the Role

This is a relationship‑driven role combining Functional Skills delivery with enrichment and pastoral support. You will work alongside a dedicated team to create a safe, calm and inclusive environment where learners feel understood, valued and ready to learn.

Core delivery is functional skills English and also PSHE. Enrichment is flexible and adaptable may include sport, arts, practical activities and personal development, alongside employability skills and preparation for independent living. If you have skills and experience you feel will enhance the curriculum of our alternative provision, we want to hear from you.

Have a youth work, SEND, pastoral, alternative provision or behaviour support background.
Experienced teachers looking to make meaningful impact on your people.
Understand trauma‑informed practice and believe in connection before correction
Are skilled at building relationships with young people who may be hard to reach
Can support learners with SEND, SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
Are passionate about helping young people develop employability skills, independence and life skills
Are confident delivering or supporting Functional Skills and enrichment activity, even if your background is non‑traditional

Teaching qualifications are favoured, however we are willing to support the right candidate to achieve this as we value the right mindset, experience and values just as highly.

The pay range we’re offering is Unqualified Teacher £28362-£31,892 – Qualified Teacher £32,843-£44,112
