Join a trailblazing Animal Science team driving innovation and excellence in education

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Lecturer in Animal Science with a particular specialism in animal biology to join our dynamic teaching team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment primarily on the new T Level in Animal Management but across all Animal Science provision.

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience within the animal industry, a deep passion for animal welfare, and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. You will deliver engaging lessons that apply theory to practice, support learners in developing essential industry skills, and contribute to curriculum development that reflects current industry standards and scientific advancements.

The Animal Science department is on an exciting journey of growth and development, with significant improvements in curriculum design, learner outcomes, and teaching practice in recent years. We are proud to be one of the first colleges in the country to deliver the new T Level in Animal Management, achieving a 100% retention rate in its first year and currently on track for 100% achievement. Our team is highly responsive to learner needs, particularly for SEND and high-needs students, and we are actively strengthening teaching, learning and assessment practices to better support knowledge retention and curriculum intent. Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Teach and assess across a range of Animal Science programmes.
Design and deliver inclusive, learner-centred lessons that promote stretch, challenge, and higher-order thinking.
Support learners academically and pastorally, including those with SEND and high needs.
Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives.
Embed industry relevance and animal welfare principles into teaching practice.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in animal biology and the wider animal care sector.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

Degree or higher qualification in an animal-related discipline.
Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
Significant experience working within the animal industry.
Strong commitment to animal welfare and ethical practice.
Experience in curriculum design and quality assurance (desirable).
Familiarity with digital learning platforms and blended delivery (desirable).
Research or industry links that enhance curriculum relevance
