HNC is delighted to reveal that it continues to deliver success across its Sports Academy programmes, with a number of recent wins and additions for the HNC trophy cabinet. We share more about the teams recent successes below.

Men’s Football Academy (B Team)
History has been made for the Men’s Academy Football B Team, who have recently been crowned as League Champions for the first time in the history of the team after a brilliant campaign under the guidance of Danny Greenfield — delivering league success in his very first year as Head Coach. A superb debut season and a sign of big things to come for the group as they continue to progress.
Men’s Football Academy (A Team)
The Men’s Football Academy A Team have reclaimed their regional Title, making the team League Champions five times in six years. The victory secures their return to the AOC National Finals in Nottingham next April, where they’ll look to go one better after finishing an impressive third on their last appearance. There was also more to celebrate this week as the team played a tense AOC National Cup first-round tie game, eventually securing a victory against New College Pontefract via penalties. The team showed character and composure when it mattered most — embodying the College values of commitment, resilience and collaboration.
Women’s Football Academy
The Women’s Football Academy enjoyed a dominant performance in their opening game in the National Cup, securing an 11-0 victory against John Leggott – after a difficult season last year, this was a hugely positive start for the women who are looking forward to the rest of the season.
Netball Academy Teams
The Netball Academy Teams (A & B) have also been flying the flag for HNC with stand-out performances in the National Cup games this week. The A Team earned a hard fought for win against Hartlepool Academy (39-31), and not to be outdone, the Netball Academy B Team secured an exceptional 47-1 win over Wilberforce College.
Jamie Marden, Faculty Lead (Enrich) and Head of Academies, shares more “I am incredibly proud of our Academy teams who have demonstrated their incredible talent and a true commitment to the College’s values of consistency, commitment, enthusiasm and motivation in their recent matches. Academy players play at the very highest level of College sport, and their recent wins are testament to the resilience, hard work and long hours of training they have undertaken with the support of HNC’s professional-level coaching team. Students taking part in the Sports Academies do so alongside their full-time studies, and the Academy programme has been specially developed to ensure that students at HNC are supported to be successful both in the classroom and on the pitch. Well done to the players and the coaches for their recent wins – I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings”.
