Proud to be wilder: Nottingham College celebrating another sustainable win

Published on 29/01/2026

Nottingham College are to announce that we have scooped yet another award celebrating our achievements and commitment to becoming a more sustainable college.

They have been named the winner of the Wilder Business Award at the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards 2025, hosted by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and sponsored by It’s in Nottingham

The award celebrates organisations across the county that are making a positive and lasting impact on nature, wildlife, and the environment. Winning the Wilder Business Award recognises our dedication to protecting and restoring nature within our campus grounds and communities, marking our second major sustainability accolade in a matter of months, following our recent success at the Green Gown Awards.

And that’s not all! Our very own Wilding Campuses Manager, Liz Morley, took home the Wilder Champion Award for her dedication and hard work transforming the college estate over the past year. She has worked on creating biodiverse habitats (including the planting of nearly 700 trees!), and numerous teaching opportunities for staff and students, linked to the environment and sustainability.

Since June 2024, we have significantly expanded its biodiversity work across our estate. From wildflower planting and habitat creation to student-led workshops and collaborative projects with local partners, we’ve taken concrete steps to embed nature into campus life.

A wide range of students have been hands-on in these initiatives too, learning new environmental skills, sharing their knowledge, and helping to shape a greener, wilder college environment for the future.

Winning the Wilder Business Award reflects the progress we’ve made in a short space of time and strengthens our commitment to environmental responsibility alongside our pledge to become carbon zero by 2030.

Our Sustainable Lead, Matt Bunn said,

“We’re absolutely delighted to receive the Wilder Business Award from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. This recognition means so much to us because it reflects our commitment to creating greener, wilder campuses and inspiring our students to take positive action for nature. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, and this award motivates us to keep pushing forward with projects that make a real difference for our community and the environment.”

This latest award marks another exciting milestone on our sustainability journey and we’re incredibly proud of everyone who has played a role in helping us become a greener, wilder place to learn and work. We also want to share a huge thank you to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust for this amazing accolade.
