Nottingham College has once again been ranked the top Further Education college in the country, in the latest national Best Companies list for 2025.
The award-winning further education college ranked within the top 15 in the education and training category overall, and 20th in the East Midlands across all industries, among health and social care, retail, construction and more.
Impressively, Nottingham College ranked as the highest further education college in the UK in the ‘Large employer’ category, at 67th position.

The list is compiled by an anonymous employee engagement project called the b-Heard survey. Colleagues are invited to say how they have felt about various aspects of their working lives, by scoring a series of statements on a scale of ‘Strongly Disagree’ to ‘Strongly Agree’. The top performing organisation’s results are then ranked in the Best Companies lists and broken down by sector and region.
Nottingham College has also achieved ‘One Star’ status which reflects organisations with ‘very good’ levels of workplace engagement.
This year, Nottingham College has also been recognised in the AOC Beacon Awards, commended for both the Mental Health & Wellbeing category and the Sustainability category. In addition, the college was also named as Sustainability Institution of the Year (Small) in the prestigious Green Gown Awards.
The rankings follow another year of successful growth at Nottingham College. Colleagues have been rewarded with sector-leading pay awards, investment in state-of-the-art teaching and learning environments, and a consistent commitment to personal development and wellbeing support.
Nottingham College has had an outstanding 12 months, with record-breaking enrolment figures establishing the college as the leading further education provider in the region. 2025 also saw new contracts with household names including Halfords and Notts County Football Club, plus the opening of facilities designed to meet local skills needs, including the new Electrical & Engineering Apprenticeships Centre at Ruddington campus.
