Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) has been awarded an accreditation by AI in Education (AiEd), recognising its commitment to the responsible and purposeful use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education.
The Explorer Level certification in the AiEd Certified Framework is awarded to organisations that are building strong foundations for the ethical and effective use of AI, developing shared understanding, identifying opportunities and introducing appropriate practices across their communities.
Achieving Explorer Level reflects BSDC's ongoing commitment to embracing innovation while ensuring AI is used to enhance teaching, learning and the overall student experience. The College is using AI to support staff development, improve educational experiences and help students develop the digital skills needed for future study and employment.
Sarah Alcock, Programme Director at AI in Education, commented: "Congratulations to Burton and South Derbyshire College on achieving Explorer status in the AiEd Framework. This achievement recognises the College's commitment to embedding AI ethically and highlights its drive in preparing staff and students to thrive in an AI-enabled world."
Fiona Hanson, Assistant Principal at BSDC, said: "Achieving Explorer status is an important milestone in our AI journey and recognises the work taking place across the College to explore and implement AI responsibly. The framework has provided an opportunity to reflect on our progress, strengthen our approach and identify ways we can continue to develop the use of AI to enhance teaching, learning and student outcomes.
“We are committed to ensuring AI is used ethically, inclusively and purposefully to support our staff, enrich learners' experiences and help prepare them for an increasingly digital world."
