As the summer holidays are one of the few chances we get to really recuperate, today we are following up our post about the many ways you can make the most of your summer holidays with a collection of TED Talks that we think will help you to push this even further.

We start off looking at activities that can help us deal with and process the world and our experiences, such as mindfulness, meditation and doing nothing, before moving on to talks on challenges and experiences we can seek out to develop ourselves and get the most out of our lives.

Have a watch of the ones that pique your interest and make sure you make the time to have a go.

1. Pico Iyer: The art of stillness

If you are one of the very many people who feels somewhat overwhelmed by the demands of our world, then this is the talk for you as Pico Iyer discusses the incredible insight that comes with taking time for stillness. In our world of constant movement and distraction, he teases out strategies we all can use to take back a few minutes out of every day, or a few days out of every season, to shore up our foundations and truly grow.

2. Andy Puddicombe: All it takes is 10 mindful minutes

If you liked Pico's talk you will definitely love this one from Mindfulness expert Andy Puddicombe. In it he describes the transformative power of refreshing your mind for 10 minutes a day, simply by being mindful and experiencing the present moment.

3. Matt Cutts: Try something new for 30 days

In this short but sweet talk, Matt Cutts discusses what he learnt from trying something new for 30 days. In it he offers a neat way to think about setting and achieving goals and demonstrates how the challenge helped to make his life more memorable.

4. Ben Saunders: Why bother leaving the house?

In this thrilling talk explorer Ben Saunders demonstrates how going outside can be utterly life enhancing. It's not because it’s always pleasant and happy, but because that’s where the meat of life is and because real inspiration and growth only comes from adversity and challenge. So watch his talk and let us know if it tempts you to step away from whats comfortable and out into the unknown...

 5. Tim Brown: Tales of creativity and play

In his entertaining talk, designer Tim Brown talks about the powerful relationship between creative thinking and play — with many examples you can try at home (and one that maybe you shouldn't).
