Since discovering Sir Ken Robinson's 2006 TED talk 'Do Schools Kill Creativity' a while back and enjoying it immensely we have been big fans of his. So when his next TED talk 'Bring on the Learning Revolution' popped up on our radar we couldn't wait to share it with you! His second TED talk is both poignant and incredibly funny, following on along the same lines of his fabled 2006 talk in discussing the limitations of our education system. Robinson discusses our need to disenthrall ourselves from the old idea of a linea life and education. We should move from the manufacturing model towards an agricultural model, where just like the farmer creates the conditions under which crops can flourish we create the conditions to allow human flourishing. This, he advises, is done through not pushing everyone down the same path but in customising education to fit your pupils. He makes the case for a radical shift from standardised schools to personalised learning — creating conditions where kids' natural talents can flourish. Life is organic, created as we explore our talents, so we must be able to do so. Treat yourself and take 18 minutes out of your day to watch it below:
