14 million jobs worldwide will vanish in the next 5 years. 🤖

"Future of Jobs Report 2023" by World Economic Forum highlights the urgent need for individuals and educators to address the skills gap to prepare for the changing job market.

The report predicts that six in 10 workers will require training by 2027 to meet the demands of the evolving job market.

The report also states that while 69 million new jobs will be created, 83 million jobs will be eliminated, emphasising the importance of re-skilling and up-skilling.

The green transition and technology adoption are identified as key drivers of job growth, and the top skills needed for the future include analytical and creative thinking, resilience, self-awareness, and tech literacy.

Jobs in education are expected to grow by about 10% (3 million additional jobs), highlighting the importance of education in meeting the demands of the future job market.

The rapid rise maybe contentious to some, but there is one point that everybody must agree: the job market landscape will change, and professionals need to be pro-active and acquire the new set of skills, so they won’t become obsolete.

The FE sector is well placed to be a foundation to skill the workforce of the future. By embracing these new opportunities and adapting to the changing needs of the workforce, Further Education colleges can help ensure that adult learners are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving job market.
